RoHS compliance for LV5800
30 April, 2008 - 14:10Leader has announced that its LV5800 modular multi-monitor platform has been awarded full RoHS compliance certification. Often referred to as the 'lead-free' directive, the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive restricts the use of hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment. These comprise lead, mercury cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ether. Each European Union member state adopts its own enforcement and implementation policies using the directive as a guide.
"RoHS compliance is not yet compulsory for monitoring and control equipment or indeed for medical devices," said Paul Vos, managing director of elQuip BV, Broadcast Master Distributor for Leader Electronics Corporation in Europe. "We are therefore very pleased to be able to announce that the LV5800 has achieved RoHS certification ahead of the legislative schedule. Compliance obviously applies both to the LV5800 itself and to the increasing number of modules available to augment the multi-monitor platform. This first RoHS certification is part of Leader's commitment to an intensive environmental programme. We anticipate being able to make similar announcements for other Leader products in due course."
